Planting Seeds of Faith at the Basilica
Growing in faith is a lifelong journey, undertaken in community and guided by the Holy Spirit. Faith Formation at the Basilica of Saint Peter is about much more than simply learning the teachings of the Catholic faith. It is about building a lasting relationship with Jesus Christ.
Our dedicated catechists strive to plant the seeds of faith and help each student learn how to nurture that faith through prayer, Eucharistic Adoration, acts of service, participation in ministry, and a deeper understanding of the sacraments. However, a child's faith formation does not begin and end in the classroom.
Regular participation in Sunday Mass is essential to spiritual growth, as it is in the Eucharist that we encounter Christ most profoundly. Equally important is the example of a Catholic way of life at home. Parents are the primary educators of their children in the faith, and by praying together, living the Gospel, and practicing the faith as a family, they provide the strongest foundation for a lifelong relationship with Our Lord.
Whether you are enrolling a child in Kindergarten or seeking the sacraments as an adult, the Basilica of Saint Peter has a faith formation program to meet your needs.
Children in Kindergarten through 6th grade participate in our Religious Education program, where they receive age-appropriate catechesis while learning how to develop and nurture a personal relationship with Jesus Christ through prayer, the sacraments, and living the Catholic faith.
Students in grades 7, 8, and 9 participate in our Confirmation program, joining peers who are preparing to be sealed with the gifts of the Holy Spirit through the Sacrament of Confirmation. Along the way, they are encouraged to deepen their faith, grow in discipleship, and become active members of the Church.
Individuals age 16 and older are invited to participate in our Adult Faith Formation program. Whether you are seeking all of your Sacraments of Initiation or have already received some and are preparing for one that is still needed, we are here to accompany you on your journey of faith and help you take the next step.
Wherever you are in your journey of faith, we are here to walk alongside you. We invite you to become an active part of our parish family as, together, we grow in faith, hope, and love through Jesus Christ and His Church.
