Annual Blessing of the Animals

Fr. Linsky with Pat and Mary Callahan and "Cookie"

The blessing of pets and animals is often celebrated on October 4, the feast of St. Francis of Assisi. This year we have 2 opportunities to have our pets blessed: Wednesday evening October 3rd 6:15 p.m. (for parish families) or Thursday, October 4th at 2:30 p.m. (for school families). Both blessings will be on the soccer field by the parking lot.

In the Scriptures, the act of blessing means 'the imparting of power or life.' To bless is more than an expression of goodwill and caring. To bless is to impart God's power in person! The blessing of each animal

means that health, healing and life are being mediated from God for the benefit of the animal in its relationship with its human partners.
